G20: Premier Li Qiang of China will lead the delegation considering President Xi will not attend the summit

G20 Summit in India : Xi Jinping reportedly missing the Summit has left Joe Biden “disappointed.” Joe Biden, the president of the United States, has confirmed his attendance and expressed his hope that Xi Jinping will join him at the G20 conference in India, which was considered a potential location for their meeting. During the G20 conference in Bali, Indonesia, in November of last year, the two leaders last spoke.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang will serve as the delegation’s leader at the G20 summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, according to a statement from the foreign ministry’s Mao Ning on Monday.Ning did not, however, offer an explanation for President Xi’s decision to skip the illustrious meeting that India was hosting.

The announcement stated, “Premier of the State Council Li Qiang will attend the 18th G20 Summit to be held in New Delhi, India, on September 9 and 10 at the invitation of the government of the Republic of India.

In a side meeting with PM Narendra Modi last month, Xi brought up India’s worries about the unresolved problems along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. According to certain sources and commentators, Xi Jinping’s absence may be interpreted as China’s unwillingness to address the border conflicts with India or to acknowledge India as a rising economic power. Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, cautioned nations against misinterpreting a map that portrayed some disputed areas as being a part of Chinese territory. He added that fostering closer ties between China and India is in both nations’ and peoples’ interests.

After a confrontation in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, which was the most major military conflict between the two sides in decades, relations between India and China soured. According to India, relations with China cannot return to normal unless there is tranquility in the border regions.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, had earlier told Prime Minister Modi that he would not be physically present at the conference. In November of the previous year, he had also skipped the G20 conference in Bali. Sergey Lavrov, the country’s foreign minister, will fly to New Delhi in his place, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
